The discovery of the first case of monkeypox in Osun state as been made known today by the state commissioner for health  Dr. Rafiu Isamotu, the commissioner made the pronouncement today after the result of the first suspected case came back as positive, the first suspected case was reported in Iperindo, the headquarters of Atakunmosa East local government area.

People with monkeypox get a rash that may be located on or near the genitals (penis, testicles, labia, and vagina) or anus (butthole) and could be on other areas like the hands, feet, chest, face, or mouth.

The rash can initially look like pimples or blisters and may be painful or itchy.

Other symptoms of monkeypox can include, Fever, Exhaustion, Respiratory symptoms (e.g. sore throat, nasal congestion, or cough), Muscle aches and backache  Etc.

People have been advised to avoid close contact with people showing monkeypox symptoms.
